ARGYLL and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) said Sandra Cairney has been appointed associate director of public health.
Sandra trained as a registered general nurse, midwife and registered sick children’s nurse at the University Hospital in Cardiff and spent 20 years working mainly as a paediatric nurse in hospital and community environments.
In 1996, she took up post as a health improvement practitioner and progressed to the head of the Health Improvement Service in Cardiff. In 2006, she took up a post as locum public health director with Torfaen Local Health Board. In 2007, she progressed to public health director covering both Anglesey and Gwynedd Health Boards and, in 2008, after nearly 30 years living and working in Wales, she came back to Glasgow where she took up post of head of strategy planning and health improvement with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
