Angus MacColl crowned piping champ

Benderloch piper Angus MacColl was crowned overall champion at the Northern Meeting piping competition in Inverness on Friday, once again lifting the coveted quaich.

Earlier on Thursday Dr Peter McCallister from Dunblane triumphed as the Inverness gold medallist for 2018, while Ross McCrindle from Edinburgh took the silver medal.

The Gold Clasp competition, the height of achievement for any piper, such as the senior piobaireachd at the Argyllshire Gathering, was won for the third time by Callum Beaumont of Dollar, who is still aged under 30.
