FINA ROUNDUP: GOLD FOR MEYER AND BRUNI IN ARGENTINA BUT FRENCH DOMINATE IN ABU DHABI

ELITE NEWS BROUGHT TO YOU BY:

Alex Meyer (United States) and Rachele Bruni (Italy) were the winners of the first leg of the 2016 FINA/HOSA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup in Patagones-Viedma, Argentina on 7 February.

Meyer took gold in 1h55m44s72, while Bruni finished in 2h06m11s50.

In the men’s race, silver went to Italy’s Simone Ruffini in 1h55m45s44. The podium was completed by another Italian, Federico Vanelli, in 1h55m47s31.

In the women’s race, 2015 series winner Bruni triumphed over Poliana Okimoto (Brazil) by more than three seconds. Okimoto took silver in 2h06m15s00 and Samantha Arevalo (Ecuador) took bronze in 2h06m22s72. Arevalo’s bronze is her second success on the World Cup circuit, after taking silver in Chun’An in 2015.
