Christmas Presents

Not only is Sharon Lock a masters swimmer, she’s also the Masters Officer for the Amateur Swimming Association

What prompted you to take up masters swimming?

I swam at my local club from the age of about nine until I was 16. By the time I was 30 I was training in public sessions a few times a week and was finding I needed a bit more of a challenge. When a friend suggested going back to my old swimming club I laughed loudly and then found out I wouldn’t be the only adult there. From that point on I was hooked again, quickly becoming more competitive and giving the ‘kids’ a run for their money. After a year of training I found myself back in the top lane and swimming five times a week, competing almost every weekend in both masters and age group events.
