Almost everyone can recognise a blackberry bush or bramble, with its spiky, long, winding stems and beautiful shiny black berries. Everyone I speak to about starting foraging begins by picking blackberries in the autumn – and why not? They’re simple to identify, taste delicious and require basically no prep. But there’s more to a bramble than just blackberries! Like with all plants in spring, the bramble bush sends out new shoots and produces fresh young leaves as soon as the sun starts shining – both of which are, in my view, a spring delicacy!
