The company that found a home for ugly fruit and veg
Have you ever been told not to judge a book by its cover? Well, the same goes for fruit and veg. Teeny tiny apples or gigantic leeks are still just as tasty as their ‘regular’ looking counterparts, but they’re often discarded before they even get to the shops, simply because they don’t fit the stereotypical idea of what we think they should look like. Cue: Oddbox – London’s first wonky fruit and veg delivery subscription service. Oddbox are tackling food waste by rescuing delicious, misshapen and surplus produce from farms and delivering them straight to their customers’ doorsteps. We had a chat with them to find out more about their mission to fundamentally shift food standards, normalise wonky produce and minimise food waste with their unique boxes.
