In 2014, five countries— Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Syria—suffered almost 80 per cent of the deaths caused by terrorists. Iraq was the worst affected, with close to 10,000 deaths. Terrorist attacks caused just 37 deaths in Western countries.
