Lisa Nandy’s article (“Fix the ideas first,” April) was a thoughtful approach to Labour’s problems. But while she notes the yearning for “devolution of power, work that has dignity and meaning,” and the need to redistribute power as well as wealth, she is wrong to limit this to social and political power.
As she says, “capital is unaccountable and unchallenged,” but never more so than in the world of work, industry and commerce. It is here where corporations need to be remodelled along fresh lines that give power, meaning and dignity to all those whose lives who are affected by them. An inclusive corporate model is possible without public ownership or “worker control”: how timely it would be if Labour were to promote this.
