INTERVIEW DANIELLE WOODWARD
I always knew I wanted to make an impact in the world and ight against injustice. I originally wanted to be a lawyer but I loved writing at school and realised I could ight for people by telling their stories. I used to watch Moira Stewart and Sir Trevor McDonald reading the news on TV and my dad would show me the newspaper headlines and we’d discuss what was going on in the world. My parents always encouraged me to learn more.
I was the only black girl in my primary school; I didn’t know I was diferent, it was other people who highlighted that to me. One girl told me, ‘Go back to where you came from.’ My parents had to explain to me the diferences between people and why they may have said those things.
