A few weeks ago, I stood in a cookery school in London, measuring flour and kneading dough. I was on a one-day course to learn how to make bread. I’d booked it on one of those days when you fancy your life would be better if you could just go back to the olden days when community mattered; when people… baked their own bread! Days when you’ve got a hangover and nurse it watching reruns of The Great British Bake Off. I signed up, then forgot about it, until an email came telling me to be on time and bring something to write on.
