Since the dawn of Amazon, I have been a dedicated online shopper. I love the convenience – I can do it at any time, there’s no journey and no uncomfortable lugging home of bags. It’s so rare that I actually go shopping now that, when I found myself meandering down the high street the other day, I almost couldn’t remember what to do. I’d forgotten you can go into a shop and just browse, and I’d definitely forgotten how lovely that is. Online shopping cannot replicate running your hand over a row of hangers, watching the movement of the clothes. It can’t give you the experience of feeling the fabric, or the pleasure of something unexpected popping into view from across the shop floor.
