Anna* was in her late 20s and a researcher for a government think tank. She requested an initial meeting so that she could decide whether she felt she could work with me, and she interviewed me about my background and qualifications. She had similar meetings with two other coaches and I felt surprisingly flattered when she chose to work with me. Before Anna arrived for her first session, I noticed that I was already putting pressure on myself to live up to her expectations of me. How I feel in response to my clients can sometimes be an indicator of how other people react to them, too.
