SPRING IS HERE, which means longer days and - hopefully - less mud. Still, I am haunted by last month’s claggy walk, so I reject my first choice of a river path - flood alert! - and choose a shorter route on higher ground. I am learning…
I am learning in other ways too. Our walks so far have been to places we can reach by train, which is good for the environment and my stress levels. For me, the task of driving out of London and back would negate any psychological benefits of a walk. Now, I am honing the journeys as well - today’s walk, in an unsung pocket of Kent, is only 40 minutes by rail, and costs less than £10 return.
