I needed time before writing this piece. I needed to go home and spend time with my family and my three month-old daughter who grew up way too fast in the past month and a half. I needed to be able to swallow the frustration of an epic Olympic regatta.
We arrived in Rio fully prepared and confident. We knew we had the speed to challenge for first place and we had medal expectations. We also knew that we had a limited amount of experience together as a quad and would be racing against crews with decades of experience and a legacy in the event.
