Operation Pedestalaugust 1942

Chapter Five

Saturday 15th August 1942

Before dawn on 15th August all the surviving merchant ships had entered Valetta’s Grand Harbour save for the SS Ohio. It was as if this fine lady was saving herself for the final and grandest of entries. But it was by no means certain that she was going to make it, especially at this eleventh hour.
