The crochet community is well known for crafting in solidarity with charities and important causes, so it’s no surprise that, since the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, hooksters have been galvanised to use their hooks and yarn help those affected. Independent designers, large craft organisations and social enterprises have all used crochet to raise funds and awareness, and Ukrainian refugees have used crochet to cope, heal and take action. From selling off unwanted stash to raising money with original patterns and donating crocheted items to those in need, the power of the crochet community has been well and truly flexed.
