Those of you who love a chunkier yarn – you’re my kind of people! Personally, I’ve leaned into my passion for chunky yarns over the past two years and use them for a large number of my projects. Because of this, I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks for working with hefty strands. So, allow me share what I’ve learned with you...
TOOLS OF THE TRADE
Ever see those massive crochet hooks in the craft aisle and think, ‘I need one of those for my chunky yarn’? Well, you might, but diving straight in with a 35mm hook is not the answer unless you want a cramp in your hand. Believe it or not, you need to get used to crocheting big. Start your first chunky project using an 8-10mm hook with a chunky or super-chunky yarn and work your way up the yarn and hook sizes. This will help you get used to making those bigger movements and help you create tension with your new tools.
