There are eight vitamins collectively known as the B vitamins and they play various vital roles within the body, including maintaining a healthy immunity, nervous system, skin and red blood cells along with releasing energy from our food. Wondering why you’ve never heard of vitamins B4, B8, B10 and B11? Once thought to be essential in the diet, these are now known to be produced by the human body itself and so don’t fit into the definition of a true vitamin!
