Anything that makes our lives easier gets the thumbs up from us. And whilst we love cooking from scratch, we also like having those store-cupboard staples as back-ups for when we just don’t have time to cook. Vegan readymade sauces have been few and far between up until recently, with many costing double the mainstream alternatives. Most pestos contain cheese and some include egg, whilst béchamel contains milk and butter.
Sacla’ have come to our rescue with their ever-expanding range of vegan-friendly sauces, which includes a tomato pesto and a basil pesto – both of which use tofu instead of cheese – and a new white béchamel sauce which cleverly replaces flour and milk with soya for use with lasagne and mac ‘n’ cheese. Their new Bolognese sauce uses the magic of pea protein to recreate a hearty meaty texture, with no need to add anything else and they even off er a PETA award-winning mayonnaise.
