JASON MILES GAME CHANGER

Readers of my last column will be aware that the good people of Newton Stewart have now got a BMX track to play on. That’s one BMX track to be shared between 5,000 people.

Nothing exciting apart from the BMX track has been happening here and I’m far too busy right now to have time to start reminiscing or having highfalutin opinions on mountain bikes and stuff, so I thought I’d write about the BMX track again. Or rather the effect it’s had on a small town in Scotland.

There are grown men limping around the town. Injuries seem to be mostly knees, ankles and hips. These men are smiling in a way they’ve not smiled for some time. Or perhaps they’re just grimacing through yet another ‘jeans stuck to grazed skin’ situation when I see them.
