Chemtrails? In First Peer-Reviewed Published Survey, Atmospheric Scientists Say No

The news undoubtedly won’t faze committed “chemtrail” believers who long ago barricaded themselves behind an impenetrable wall of conspiratorial thinking. But the rest of us—including some who may have wondered, just a little bit—now have some authoritative scientific word.

What the authors say is the first peer-reviewed expert response from atmospheric scientists about chemtrails— if they existed—has been published in a scientific journal. Specifically, the authors surveyed experts to scientifically evaluate the popular claim, advanced by a small but vocal group of people, that there is a secret large-scale atmospheric program involving widespread chemical spraying from high-altitude aircraft. Not true, the scientists say: there is no such evidence.
