If ever a magazine should have a motto,
this is it. Stationary Engine magazine
is therefore only as good as the
contributions from its readers, who are
certainly keen and most erudite too in their
own particular field of the hobby. This is
the strength which has seen it through four
decades. Many of our current contributors,
whom it must be said will not be around for
ever, have written since the early days, but
in the three years that I have been Editor
it has been good to see that even more new
names of the latest generation of engine
men have been increasingly seen between
the pages. I make no apologies for taking
this excellent opportunity in naming a few
of them and express my heartfelt gratitude
to them for their dedication and support.
Therefore to the newest generation of regular
contributors, including by way of example:
Mike and Andy Milestone, Jim Gerrand, Mark
Tewkesbury, Jamie & Luke Coates, Kevin
Parsons, Stephen Williams, Kevin Buttle, Darren
Curryer and many others - Thank You, and
please keep up the good work. I must not forget
the likes of Tim Macaire, David Appleton, Jim
Perkins, Barry Job, John Thorby, John Hili,
Phillip Gallimore, Bob Weight, Trevor Ramsden,
Alan Cullen, Philip Thornton-Evison, Doug
Newton, David Harris, and Martin Perman who
have supported myself and previous editors of
the magazine over past years - Thank You, one
and all. I do apologise if I have missed anyone
out, however I will always be grateful for your
unnamed but invaluable support.
Now then, to the future; that is, to those of
you readers who have something to add but have
been too shy to send in, a sincere welcome to
you too in advance; your contribution will be no
less valuable even if you consider your grammar,
spelling, syntax etc may not be up to par; my job
as Editor is to sort that out - it is what you are
trying to contribute that matters.
Patrick Knight
A special thanks to Eric Brain!
