The future, as seen on TV and film, is always a little bit too clean looking. We all know that the future, especially in space, will be a grubby affair at best. Which is why this accurate simulation is appearing in these pages. Space Truckers sees you, the lowest bidders, attempting to cobble together a spaceship out of pipes that will not only get you to your destination, but also do the excellent job of delivering said pipes to wherever you’re going. Assuming you get there of course.
WHAT IS IT?
Galaxy Truckers is a very silly game. To that end, it probably has one of the best, most humorously written rulebooks we’ve ever read. Apart from being a pleasure to read, it makes teaching the game very easy. If you have players around your gaming table that like to ask questions before you’ve finished explaining anything, using the tone of the book really helps. To the question ‘what’s this?’ you might explain, as the rulebook does, that it’s a cannon, and that you want ‘as many cannons as possible’. When they ask about a different piece of ship, you will also reply that, they want ‘as many X as possible’ – as instructed by the rulebook.
