Just in time for summer, Great Scoops, the cookbook from Ottawa’s favourite ice cream shop Merry Dairy is out. We have some recipes to share with you, including the delicious vegan ice cream made with coconut milk and pink lemonade that graces our Summer issue cover. Author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings was also fond of ice cream – made from rich cream in the Florida backwoods where she lived during the first half of the twentieth century. We visit her farmhouse and try some vintage recipes that have held up well. In this issue we also take a look at the fascinating Turkish region of Cappadocia with its extraordinary rock formations and subterranean cities, and while away some time in historic Vienna. Our cookbook review also delves into the past -- Nistisima by Georgina Hayden is inspired by the ancient fasting traditions of the Greek Orthodox church. Fast forward to the present as we go behind the scenes on board Celebrity Beyond and find out what it takes to operate not one, but several, fine dining restaurants on the high seas.
