WELCOME TO MY NIGHTMARE

GROOVY GHOUL WEDNESDAY13 IS KNOWN FOR TONGUE-INCHEEK HORROR PUNK, BUT NEW ALBUM ‘CONDOLENCES’ HAS TAKEN A MORE MACABRE TONE…

WEDNESDAY 13

As frontman for horror punks Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 and Murderdolls, his collaboration with then-Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, Wednesday 13 has been presented as a purveyor of kitsch shock rock, associated with films and TV shows like ‘The Munsters’ or ‘The Addams Family’, but seventh solo record ‘Condolences’ is anything but light entertainment.

“The album is written from the perspective of killers, victims and those mourning the dead,” Wednesday explains. “It’s the death of relationships. I used to never write about personal things in my songs but it’s become therapeutic for me. There are no parodies or jokes this time. The song ‘You Breathe, I Kill’ is actually written from the point of view of the serial killer Richard Ramirez. I watched a few documentaries and read about his life. He saw his cousin shoot his wife in the face and his sister’s husband used to spy on women in the night and encourage Richard to do the same. It’s frightening to think what these things do to a person’s mind. He claimed he killed in the name of Satan, but he was just a screw up that turned to murder. Real stories hold more interest for me than comic books or stuff like that. This album is more serious than I’ve ever been – everything on this record is real.”

About Terrorizer Magazine

It’s safe to say most of the writing team this month are suffering post-Roadburn blues. It happens every year without a shadow of a doubt. If you want to read up on all the fun you either witnessed yourselves or sadly missed out on, for whatever reason, please turn to the live section of the magazine and bathe in some of the highlights of this year’s event. We also have some killer features in this issue, and as always, it’s a battle to feature every band Team Terrorizer loves. The good news is, what’s inside is a broad spectrum of bands who have long-established relationships with the magazine and with you guys too. Dying Fetus grace the cover, which we are very honoured about, and elsewhere there’s some killer interviews with Oxbow, who have returned after a decade; horror rocker Wednesday 13, Schammasch talk about their new opus, VoiVod get nostalgic with us and Vallenfyre have frankly blown the roof down at Tezza Towers with their album of the year contender. So what are you waiting for – stop reading my notes and get to the real action! See you next month! Adios
