EXAMPLE COVER LETTER

THERE ARE A FEW BASIC RULES TO FOLLOW WHEN WRITING YOUR COVER LETTER

− Write to a named contact if possible, signing off with ‘Yours sincerely’. If addressed to Sir/Madam it should be signed ‘Yours faithfully’.

− Keep the length to one side of A4.

− Spell check.

− Don’t copy and paste sentences from the job advert — just select the key words.

− Keep the letter to about four short paragraphs — concise and tightly focused.
