Total FlyFisher  |  November 2016

Wychwood’s Carl Nixon leads the way this month at the beautiful Sweethope Loch, where the resident rainbows are up for the daddy. GAIA instructor Barry Mitchell takes his North Country Spiders to his local stillwater and finds them to be just as effective for stocked trout as they are for wild river browns. Selectafly MD Martin Webster goes afloat on Farmoor One and Two and finds an alternative way to catch fussy rising fish. David Heseltine takes a trip over the border to team up with angling legend Brian Peterson on New Haylie Loch, while Blithfield’s head bailiff Dave Naylor shares his hotspots and flies for this ‘top of the water’ Midlands venue.
While many Irish anglers may well have hung their rods up at the end of the brown trout season on the mighty loughs, angling guide Tom ‘Doc’ Sullivan reveals a small stocked trout fishery on the east of Ireland where there’s a chance of a double-figure fish.
We have also teamed up with a top stillwater trout fishery to give you the chance of winning a FREE day’s fishing in our monthly competition.
On the rivers, Ben Bangham shares a selection of nymphs and dries to catch those autumn grayling and Clark Colman shows you how to tackle the most difficult part of a river to fish, the glide.
On the fly tying front we have Les Lockey’s Bunny, a fly for targeting fry feeders and Kieron Jenkins has three seasonal beauties for the rivers and stillwaters. Two-time rivers national champion Terry Phillips and top competition angler Charlie Abrahams share their successful patterns of 2016 and George Barron reveals his one-season wonder flies that worked in years gone by that are worth trying again.
So it’s another 100 pages of top-quality fly fishing reading from the best anglers and writers in the UK.
Tight lines for November!

Could Be Better Reviewed Saturday, March 9, 2013
The magazine is about the best out there, I like wild fishing and for me there's too heavy a focus on stocked waters and bright bushy flies but they do feature wild waters, natural flies, coarse fish on the fly and the occasional salt water fly fishing spread, I've even seen some tenkara articles.

I really wish the mag would move away from the stockie bashing and feature more wild fishing. Being the best of a bad bunch isn't much to shout about but there you go!

Full of amazing shots, nteresting articles and always manages to teach me something every month with expert fly-tying.
