From Strength to Strength

Commando Sophie (13th October 2018)

I guess I had better start by introducing myself. I’m Sophie, or I should say, that is the name I gave to myself on the 21st October 2014 as that was the day that I discovered who I really was.

My actual birth date was in January 1993, but that was for my male persona – a far less glamorous and very dual part of a life which seemed to be going pretty much nowhere. To most people around me, I seemed to be the one who didn’t live up to everyone else’s standards - unless you count my time as a young officer in The Royal Air Training Corps. That was a very male-dominated environment and I didn’t always fit in too well on that front. My only upside from it was that I discovered that I had a bit of a natural-born ability for being a damn good pilot, and as a result spent many hours flying all sorts of aircraft both in simulation and for real.
