Daisey Lopez

Hi, my name is Daisey Ariel Lopez. I am a Hispanic transwoman born and raised in NYC.

I started my trans journey at the tender age of 22. That was many moons ago. It was harder at the time that I transitioned in New York, as I’m 49 now. The girls today have so many advantages - it’s a great time in trans history. I’m very happy to see girls openly transitioning at an early age with parental support. The scene has changed so much since I became a woman. Some girls today feel they don’t need to completely transition, while others feel comfortable as they are without that many changes to themselves physically, and still consider themselves transwomen. Ultimately we are a community of gradations when it comes to gender and sexual identity. I lived and worked in NYC all my life and have recently opted for a quieter life in Connecticut with a family of gay men that I love and adore. As LGBTQ I firmly believe we get to create our own families, and I’m very proud of mine. I work in the city as a Party Hostess for many trans promoters, in addition to planning events. I also work as an actress and get bit-parts from time to time here in the city. You can find me at the main TS parties in NYC every Friday and Saturday night.

TO BE TRANS, OR NOT TO BE TRANS
As a child I didn’t always understand gender roles and their influence on socialism. For a while I was the only male child in my immediate family, and though I was taught to be a man, I couldn’t help but wonder how life would be if I were a girl. I enjoyed trucks and sports, but when it came to dolls and dress-up and make-believe, I never missed a chance to enjoy the pleasures of being a little girl.
