“When you’re a devoted carnivore – which is what I used to call myself – you don’t ever think you’re going to end up adopting a lamb,” laughs Jenny Graham from Lincolnshire. “But that’s exactly what happened to me during a really surprising and very unexpected day.”
It had been an unseasonably mild winter, but the poor weather was stretching out, delaying the beginning of spring. The darker evenings and colder roads made for tricky driving. “Where I live and work is fairly rural,” says Jenny, “and as a bar manager, I often find myself driving around either very late at night or in the early hours of the morning when it’s dark and very cold.”
