HERITAGE AUCTIONS’ DAVID HALL T206 COLLECTION INCLUDED WORLD RECORD SALE OF A PSA T206 HONUS WAGNER AUTHENTIC

The second edition of Heritage Auctions’ David Hall T206 Collection that closed September 19 and included the highest sum ever paid for a T206 Honus Wagner in PSA Authentic form, raised $2.75 million for the Dallas-based auction house. The Wagner, graded Authentic by PSA, sold for $540,000. Another record sale was the $144,000 price paid for a Ty Cobb Tobacco tin, one of the finest known in existence. Hall, the founder of Collector’s Universe, had assembled a very impressive T206 collection that ranked No. 2 on the PSA Current Finest registry. The collection was so vast it had to be sold over two auctions.

“We’re so happy for David,” Chris Ivy, Director of Heritage Sports, said in a statement. “He’s one of the hobby’s most important pioneers, and the ultra-hot market for PSA-graded cards today is a validation of his life’s work. It’s a golden era for high-grade and low-population trading cards because of the structure he innovated.”
