This placeholder plaque will soon be replaced by a brand new 3-tiered memorial
A new memorial stone will be unveiled on 30 September, at the site where Eddie Cochran was fatally injured in a car crash near Chippenham in Wiltshire. The stone – a tiered design with ‘three steps to heaven’ – replaces the damaged one at the site, and has been organised and fan-funded by Facebook group The Eddie Cochran Memorial Project. The day before the unveiling there will be an all-day tribute gig at Chippenham’s Flying Monk Tavern. On 3 October, Cochran would have turned 80 years old. He was just 21 when he died.
