At Zoo de la Flèche, 160 miles southwest of Paris, you’ll find a secret getaway among its menagerie. When most guests have left, those in the know can stay the night at one of the zoo’s nine luxury safari lodges. Each lodge is beautifully decorated but the main attraction is the large floor-to-ceiling windows that look out on to the animals’ habitat. You can sit by a roaring fire while a pack of arctic wolves pass by your window; wake up to a polar bear splashing about in its lodge-side pool; or pick a lodge looking on to lemurs, white tigers or grizzly bears. Enjoy some creature comforts as you watch the creatures, and the creatures watch you.
