Woodworking Crafts Magazine  |  August 18
In our August issue our main project is a modern style hall table by James Hatter, also on a contemporary theme a charming laminated ash plant stand project. On the turning front we look at how to sharpen lathe tools and try out Record Power’s new Herald lathe. Learn about the importance of waxes, avoid those nasty twists using winding sticks and make an end grain shooting board. It’s summer so there’s a design for a slatted sun lounger to relax on while reading the magazine. Our feature is an unusual college in America at Berea, Kentucky where students don’t pay any fees to learn woodworking and other crafts. Green woodworker Paul Adamson shows us how to make birch bark containers and Garry Marshall delves into ancient hedgerows. A workshop chest of drawers with special meaning gets a major revamp and push-along racing cars for a pinewood derby are an easy and fun to make project. We could go on and on, but there is plenty more to read and enjoy!
