Poetry Together is a new competition from Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester Children’s Book Festival and The Red Cross. Under the direction of Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, the cross-generational competition asks children and young people to pair up with a parent, grandparent, older sibling, friend or teacher to create new poetry. It aims to highlight the work of the Red Cross in tackling loneliness amongst the elderly and reconnect generations through poetry.
The winners will receive 100 copies each of their poems on specially designed postcards, and will be invited to the launch of Manchester Children’s Book festival in June.
All entries must be poems jointly written by two people, one under 18 and the other over 18. Enter through the online form. Entry is free.
