In a very crowded field, several awards have closed down. Awards absent from this year’s literary calendar are the Paddy Power Political Book Awards, the Hatchet Job of the Year award and the Crime Thriller Awards. The Impac Dublin Literary Award is currently unable to find a new sponsor and may close.
More positively, the Samuel Johnson Prize may appear to have gone missing, but thanks to a new sponsor is now the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction. Meanwhile the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize has been incorporated into the Man Booker International Prize. The National Book Awards (the Nibbies) took 2015 off, but hope to relaunch this year. The Folio Prize will not be given this year, but plans to return in 2017.
