Patrick Forsyth
I am sure that you have seen this on television. The picture first shows the world as seen from space, then slowly the shot zooms in, moving nearer and nearer, through the clouds, going on to focus on a country, a small region, then right down to an area the size of, say, a football pitch or smaller. In a sense the focus is the same all the way down, there may be no change of direction as the image zooms in. But the information, the detail and the opportunity to allow what is seen to influence what you write about, or give you ideas if you need to decide what to write about, varies as you head in ever closer.
