Entries are invited for the 2016 Seán Ó’Faoláin Short Story Competition, which has a first prize of €2,000.
In addition to the €2,000, the winner will be published in Southword literary journal and awarded a week-long residency at Anam Cara Writers’ and Artists’ Retreat. The winner will be announced at Cork Short Story festival in October and the winner will be invited to read their story at the festival and provided with hotel accommodation. The runner-up will receive €500 and their story will be published in Southword. Four more shortlisted entries will be included in Southword, and will receive a publication fee of €120. The competition is for original, unpublished and unbroadcast short stories up to 3,000 words in any style and on any subject by writers anywhere in the world.
