UK COMMERCIAL MARKET

Get signed by Silvertail

Silvertail Books is an independent publisher of commercial fiction and non-fiction.

‘I started Silvertail Books three years ago,’ said publisher Humfrey Hunter, who also works as a literary agent.

‘I’ve been an agent for a decade and changes in the industry were making it harder and harder to earn a living,’ he said. ‘But at the same time those changes were making it easier to publish and distribute books, so I started Silvertail with the intention of building it into a modern, nimble, brave publishing house which would move with the times. My first book was Elephant Moon by John Sweeney of the BBC, which came out in October 2012. I was his agent and the book was turned down by every publisher I could find but I thought it was too good to let disappear. It has now sold 160,000 copies.’
