Children‘s authors Charlotte and Adam Guillain discuss their writing process, individually and as a husband and wife team, with Amy Sparkes

WRITING FOR CHILDREN

Adam and Charlotte Guillain have written hundreds of books between them. As well as writing books individually, they also work as a husband-and-wife team, creating picture books.

Which type of books do you write? What are your most wellknown/ most recent titles?

Between us, we write a wide variety of books, both individually and as a writing partnership. We tend to write picture books together. Mostly these are funny, rhyming stories and we particularly love collaborating with amazing illustrators. Last year we had three rhyming picture books published by Egmont: Supermarket Gremlins (with Chris Chatterton), Treats for a T Rex (with Lee Wildish) and School for Dads (with Ada Grey). Our bestknown books are from our George‘s Amazing Adventures series, which have been translated into several languages and sell in many territories. Over the last two years we have also written over 140 books for reading schemes, both fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as contributing to academic anthologies and resources for teachers.
