The Grist Competition 2018 run by the University of Huddersfield creative writing department is themed ‘Trouble & Strife: A Celebration of Protest.’
2018 is the centenary of the 1918 Representation of the People Act which gave some women over thirty the vote for the first time, and also all men over 21. The forthcoming Grist anthology Trouble & Strife will showcase protest poetry and prose that celebrate people banding together to bring about change.
The competition is for original, unpublished short fiction up to 5,000 words and poetry up to forty lines. The prizes re £500, £250 and £125.
