The books shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Awards 2016 are: Best story: The Astounding Broccoli Boy, Frank Cottrell Boyce; The Nowhere Emporium, Ross Mackenzie; The Boy Who Sailed the Ocean in an Armchair, Lara Williamson; Best book with facts:FactFeed: The Ultimate Book of Randomly Awesome Trivia, Penelope Arlon; The Silly Book of Weird and Wacky Words, Andy Seed. The winner will be announced on 3 March – World Book Day.
Robert Winston has won the £10,000 Royal Society Book Prize for the third time with Utterly Amazing Science. The prize is given annually for science books aimed at a nonspecialist readership.
The 2014 Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, worth £1,500 and given in alternate years for poetry and prose, was won jointly by two poetry collections: Bright Travellers by Fiona Benson and Black Country by Liz Berry.
