An online journal of literature and the arts, Blackbird is published twice a year and has a content of poetry, fiction, non fiction, reviews, plays, visual art, new media and video essays. Writers around the world are welcome and the magazine believes contributors should be paid, as a gesture of respect.
‘The Blackbird aesthetic aims to be large minded and adventurous,’ say guidelines. ‘Poe, Stevens, the Beatles, these iconic figures represent a broadly encompassing, evolving awareness that we embody in our journal.’ You can read magazine content on the website.
There are guidelines for submitting poetry, fiction and non fiction but for anything else the magazine should first be contacted before making a submission.
