Perhaps you have an idea for a poem but not quite sure how to start or how to structure it? It may help to use one of the small forms. For instance the englyn, a Welsh or Celtic form, maybe just the starting point you need.
Four lines only, it is based on thirty syllables and rhyme. The first line has ten, the second six and the third and fourth lines have seven syllables (10, 6, 7, 7).It is important to note that it is the sixth syllable of the first line where the rhyme is introduced and the last syllable of the second, third and fourth lines rhyme with it. Note that the end of the first line does not rhyme.
