After a hiatus of seventeen years the classic magazine of dark fantasy and horror, Weirdbook Magazine, was relaunched last year. The revamped magazine proved successful, and editor Douglas Draa will be accepting new submissions of stories up to 6,000 words, 1-31 October. In a move which may stem the tide of illegal downloading of ebooks, at least temporarily, Artem Vaulin, the founder of KickassTorrents has been arrested in Poland. US Assistant Attorney General Leslie R Caldwell observed that ‘Vaulin is charged with running today’s most visited illegal file-sharing website, responsible for unlawfully distributing well over $1 billion of copyrighted materials.’ It is estimated that the Torrent site makes over $16m a year from advertising, while depriving authors of millions in royalties.
