The first annual Dinesh Allirajah Prize for Short Fiction, organised by Comma Press and the University of Central Lancashire, is open to submissions of 2,000-6,000 word stories on the theme of ‘Café Stories’. The winner will receive £500 and ten shortlisted entries will be published in an ebook anthology.
Dinesh Allirajah (1967-2014) thought cafés were fertile grounds for the short story and posted many stories on his blog.
‘We understand what goes on there, without the gauze of a local or historical event,’ he said.
