The Kelpies Prize 2017 is open for submissions of children’s novels set in Scotland. The winner will be awarded £2,000 and their novel will be published by the Kelpies children’s fiction imprint of Edinburgh’s Floris Books.
Submissions are invited in three categories: Young Kelpies (age 6-8, 10,000 words); Kelpies (age 8-11, 30,000-60,000 words) and KelpiesTeen (age 11-14, 30,000-70,000 words). One winner will be published.
All submissions be original, unpublished novels incorporating material that today’s children can relate to. They must be set wholly or mainly in Scotland and have Scottish characters or themes. Submissions may be in any genre. You can enter more than once, but don’t submit novels that have been previously entered for the Kelpies Prize.
