Beans come in all shapes and sizes, from the giant exhibition grade specimens to the dinky dwarf varieties that are just the right size for pots on the balcony. Yet, the three most common options for growing in this country are runner, French and broad. Each has its own appeal and all are ideal for novices, as they’re simple to grow and produce a seemingly endless supply of pods, so long as you water well and harvest frequently.
