From the heart
For hand-crafted artisan pieces at fair trade prices, we’re looking to Heartisania, a new online store with a story behind each of the meticulously sourced products. The company works with local creators, namely in Central America, The indian subcontinent and Africa, aiming to find previously undiscovered handmade crafts. The bowl pictured here is made by the women of the lenca tribe in Honduras and el Salvador, which uses ancient techniques of binding together pine needles with thread on top of a white clay bowl and makes an impressive talking point. Heartisania ensures that each group of artisans is paid a fair price for their crafts, which benefits both the community and the continuation of skilfully made pieces.
