Carina and Derek bought their 1932 home in Evesham because it was the sunniest house they had ever seen. ‘There were big windows even in the hallway,’ remembers Carina, a former actress who starred in the 1970s television programme Crossroads. ‘Natural light is very important to me because it makes designing the internal lighting really easy. It’s also a very compact house which is a pleasant change after our previous home, a rambling 16th-century cottage. The rooms here are smaller but easier to get around.’
After moving into the house in September 2015, the couple set about changing much of the flooring within three weeks. ‘The old floorboards were laid haphazardly with some rooms going north to south and others east to west,’ says Carina. ‘We didn’t want carpeting but we had to bring them into line so we laid engineered oak in every room downstairs except for the kitchen.’
Art work in Carina’s home is a family affair, by her father and sister Paul and Rolla Wyeth
